Cutting statutory filing to minutes
Moved statutory payroll filing directly into the HRIS, so employers stopped juggling government portals by hand.

Context
Every month, employers using Repute are legally required to report certain payroll details to the government and pay what's owed. Provident fund contributions, tax deductions, things like that. Before this, doing that reporting meant logging into separate government websites, one for each requirement, manually preparing the numbers to match whatever format that portal wanted, and uploading everything by hand. All of this sat on top of running payroll itself, which was already its own job.
What was needed
I didn't want to just make the existing process a little faster. Government portals are slow and clunky no matter what you do, so shaving a few minutes off data entry wasn't going to change how employers felt about this. What was actually needed was to remove the coordination effort entirely: the back and forth between running payroll, preparing separate filings, and logging into multiple portals to submit them.
Work I did
I shipped compliance filing workflows directly inside the HRIS payroll module. Once payroll was run, an employer could prepare and submit their statutory returns and pay what was owed right there, without ever leaving the HRIS or opening a government portal in a separate tab.
What helped
Before deciding what to automate, I mapped out exactly where employers were actually losing time: the manual coordination between payroll and filing, the data prep to match each portal's format, and the uploads themselves. That map is what told me which steps were worth automating first, instead of guessing.
Results
What used to take HR teams multiple days or weeks, coordinating between payroll and separate government filings, now takes about 10 minutes inside the HRIS itself.
